Canada working hard to convince Trump on NAFTA – Trudeau

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland Trudeau also announced that Canada and ten other remaining members of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) concluded discussions on a new Comprehensive and Progressive agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) which is about to be signed in March.

As Canada takes over the presidency of the Group of Seven next year, Trudeau confirmed empowering women would be one of the main themes of the meeting.

Focusing on issues of gender inequality, women’s rights and equal payment, Trudeau said in his speech paying men and women the same doesn’t go far enough, unless the barriers faced by female workers are tackled.

He also referred to recent women’s movements, such as MeToo, Time’s Up and The Women’s March, saying sexual harassment in business and government is a systemic problem and unacceptable.
