At least 24 killed in past several hours in eastern Ghouta – war monitor

The U.N. Security Council, including Russia, approved the resolution demanding a 30-day truce on Saturday (February 24) as rescuers in the country’s eastern Ghouta region said bombing would not let up long enough for them to count bodies during one of the bloodiest air assaults of the seven-year war.

Videos uploaded to the internet by the civil defence group known as the White Helmets appear to show members of the White Helmets rescuing injured people in the aftermath of air strikes in Misraba, Autaya and Douma in eastern Ghouta.

One video showed air strikes continuing to target Autaya as the White Helmets moved injured people in to a van according to the caption of the video.

The bombardment of eastern Ghouta over the past week has been one of the heaviest of Syria’s seven-year war, killing at least 522 people in seven days, according to a toll compiled by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based war monitor.
