Thailand’s Miss Jumbo crowns overweight woman and transgender

19 women and 18 transgender took part in the beauty pageant for Miss Jumbo in two separate categories in Nakhon Ratchasima northeastern province of Thailand.

The minimum weight required to be a contestant is at least 80 kilograms (176 pounds). The heaviest contestant to participate in the contest is a transgender with 159 kilograms (344 pounds).

The judge said they have considered not only the weight but also personality, dresses, and confidence.

The awards include popular vote, best gown, best personality and the heaviest contestant.

29 year-old Kwanrapee Boonchaisuk, weight 105 kilogram (231 pounds), was crowned Thailand’s Miss Jumbo 2018. Bantita Sangkachart, 100 kilograms (220 pounds), was crowned Thailand’s Miss Jumbo 2018 transgender.

The winners took home 10,000 Thai baht (US$ 318) and will also work to promote elephant conservation in Thailand.
