Canada’s Trudeau calls Trump administration steel proposals ‘unacceptable’

“We buy more steel from the United States than any other country and disruptions to this integrated market would be significant and serious,” Trudeau said while visiting Ontario city of Barrie.

“That’s why we are impressing upon the American administration the unacceptable nature of these proposals that are going to hurt them every bit as much as they will hurt us,” he said.

U.S. President Donald Trump struck a defiant tone on Friday, saying trade wars were good and easy to win, after his plan to put tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum triggered threats of retaliation from trading partners and a slide in stock markets.
