The Chanel display, on the last day of Paris Fashion Week, featured some wholly unsuitable attire for a winter’s hike, from golden over-the-knee boots to little black slip dresses.
Among the guests crouched on benches cut from logs were Keira Knightley, Vanessa Paradis, Lily Allen and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.
Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld recreated an authentic forest inside Paris’ glass-domed Grand Palais exhibition hall, complete with musty smelling leaves and moss on the runway.
The privately-owned label is known for its over-the-top displays, which have included a mini-Eiffel tower, a set featuring cliffs and a waterfall, and a Chanel-branded rocket which lifted off the catwalk.
