Fire breaks at a warehouse in Mumbai, dozens injured

Reportedly, the big hall which was being used as a warehouse caught fire around GMT 0700 which spread in the blink of an eye blocking the entrance. The workers were then forced to escape by jumping a 20-foot wall in the backside.

Twelve fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Several women were injured in the accident, said a local resident, Nadia Mosheen Sheikh.

Fire in Indian factories and warehouses is fairly common, as safety regulations are not strictly enforced. In most places across India, fire safety regulations are lax and not periodically reviewed which results in major fires breaking out, resulting in loss of life and property.
