One Suspect Arrested, Others Still Sought in Fatal Shooting

The suspect, Devonte Lockett (b/m, 18), is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court for his role in the killing of Tristian Hutchins, 8.  The victim’s sister, Kheristian Hutchins, 5, also sustained gunshot wounds.

A booking photo of suspect Lockett is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Rhodes and Detectives J. Pickett, A. Vinogradov, B. Moss and E. May reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in a parking lot at the above address and discovered that Tristian and his younger sister, Kheristian, were shot.  Paramedics transported both children to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Tristian was pronounced dead at the hospital on March 28.  His sister was treated for her wounds and released.

Further investigation led to the identity of Lockett as a suspect in this case.  He was taken into custody on Thursday (April 5) without incident and subsequently charged.

Investigators say there are still one or more unknown suspects wanted in the shooting.  Anyone with information on the other suspect(s) is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
