Former President Barack Obama is set to take the stage today at Rice University for The Baker Institute 25th anniversary gala.
Background of The Baker Institute: Founded in 1993, Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy has established itself as one of the premier nonpartisan public policy think tanks in the country. The institute ranks 3rd among university-affiliated think tanks worldwide and 17th among the U.S. think tanks, according to a 2017 study by the University of Pennsylvania’s Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program. The survey ranked the institute’s Center for Energy Studies No. 1 among the world’s energy- and resource-policy think tanks.
The event is invite only if you wish to attend. Only invited Baker Institute supporters and special guests will be permitted however there will be a live stream at www.bakerinstitute.org if you wish to tune in.
The former president will be the guest of honor and will engage in a moderated conversation with former Secretary of State James A. Baker III, who is the institute’s honorary chair. Presidential historian Jon Meacham will be the moderator for the evening.
“2018 is a major milestone for the institute and for all our supporters and friends, without whom we could not have established this prominent public policy forum,” Baker Institute Director Edward Djerejian stated. “With President Obama’s participation in our gala, the institute will have had the privilege of hosting every living former president since its inception.”
