By: Paige Hubbard

Last night the city of Houston and Mayor Sylvester Turner Held a celebration of Life Tribute for Former President George H.W Bush at City Hall in Downtown Houston. Dozens of Houstonians were in attendance to pay their respects for the late president and the legacy he has left behind in Houston, and all over the country.

“I invite all Houstonians to join us as we pay tribute to the memory of a great fellow city resident,” Mayor Turner said. “May we never forget his service to our country, his call for us to be a light to the world, and his loving spirit.”

Linda Lorelle former KPRC 2 anchor was one of the key note speakers of the night. Musical performers included gospel singer American Gospel singer Yolanda Adams, Country Music singer Clay Walker, The Gatlin Brothers, Houston’s very own La Mafia, and the Houston Symphony, all of whom the bush family enjoyed listing to.

Many community leaders were in attendance such as Council member Jerry Davis and
Jack Christie who both shared personal accounts on how George H.W Bush had touched their lives as he did so many though out the course of his life.

“I had a three year old son, and he was president of the United States we were at the Houstonian and my son had claimed up on this railing and I had turned away, he was afraid that he might fall. He go up from his chair and put my son back down on the ground,” said council Member Christie.

The evening was bittersweet as we lost a American hero, who served his country in world war 2 and as a leaded of this country, but we celebrated all the great achievements and contributions he has bestowed amongst everyone he touched. He will forever be remembered for his resilient spirt and how he was loving father, husband and community leader.
