NTV Houston Highlights Fort Bend County Judge Elect KP George

By: Paige Hubbard

Fort Bend ISD Board Member KP George made history this past November when he unseated longtime Republican Robert Herbert for county judge after being in the seat for 15 years.

“I knew that it was very important to get involved in politics because that’s where you’re going to have a say was on what’s going on around you,” said County Judge-Elect KP George.
A county judge is a person appointed by the people of a community that make sure all moving parts of that county are functioning properly. This included paying bills, proving state mandates services and, much more.

KP Geroge says his motivation to step into the leadership role came from the challenges he faced as a minority immigrant.

“Coming from a minority background and also an immigrant background, sometimes I felt like I was treated unfairly and that is something I realized I’m not going to sit here and think I have no power and I just have to take,” Mr. George continued.

KP George wanted to be in a position where he could make a positive change in his community and influence others around him. KP Geroge says that anything he tries to accomplish is not just about him, but about the 780,000 he represents and advocates for.

As a newly elected Fort Bend County Judge, a father of three and a husband who came from a small village in India. KP George life illustrates it’s not about where you come from but where you are going.

“I just wanted to continue to make sure I’m doing everything possible to make Fort Bend County a better place for us and also for the children,” KP George ended.
