The annual Houston India Conference kicks off third year

The third annual Houston India Conference was held at The Asia Society where various constitutes gathered to discuss the latest business practices and developments in India.The first edition of the Houston India Conference took place in 2017.

NTV Houston was able to speak to the founder of the conference to find out how it all began.

“Texas is the largest exporter of oil and gas in the country Houston Is driving in healthcare and business technology, India is the fastest growing company so there is a natural synergy between Houston and India to do more and more business together,” said the founder of the conference Jiten Agarwal.

“So, I thought let’s provide a platform where business to business and government to government interactions can take place and the people who were interested in doing business with India they can understand what is India and how to do business over there,” Agarwal ended.

This year’s theme of the conference was Make in India, which is a major national initiative of the Indian government. It was designed to foster innovation, enhance skill development and facilitate investment and collaboration opportunities amongst many other things.

Mayor Turner was in attendance and he shared brief remarks about how important the relationship is between India and The U.S.

“The greatness of our region is based in large part on the diversity of our region and the Indian community that’s a part of our region, as mayor of the city of Houston I want to thank you for just being a vital component,” said Mayor Sylvester Turner.

The conference had a series of panel discussions to address the state of the Indian economy and politics. One of the speakers was the honorable KP George who is the first South Asian to be elected as a judge in Fort Bend County. He wanted to share a special message with our viewers.

“Get involved be part of this discussion why we do this? For our children and generations to come because I shattered the glass ceiling for our children,” KP Geroge ended.

The central focus of the Houston India Conference is to share the story of India with Texas and those who are interested in investing in India.

One of the organizers of the conference is the Consul General of India in Houston Dr. Anupam Ray. He said the relationship between India and the U.S will be a defining relationship for years to come.
