This morning the north freeway was crawling after a Houston police department motorcycle officer was involved in scary crash. It all happened at around 5:30am while it was still dark outside, deputies say the officer was on the fast lane when someone cut him off and swerved into his lane. The officer had to act fast, but lost control and ended up ejecting himself from his bike before crashing into the retainer wall.
HPD said good Samaritans and another officer blocked that part of the freeway and protected the fallen officer from other vehicles that were driving around. That officer is now recovering in memorial Herman hospital. HPD used this incident to remind every driver to always watch out for motorcycles.
