India will stop share of its water flowing into Pakistan

“Our government has decided to stop our share of water which used to flow to Pakistan,” Nitin Gadkari, India’s transport and water resources minister, tweeted.

India will divert water from eastern rivers and supply it to its people in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, he said.

The move comes after India revoked Pakistan’s status as the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) and hiked the excise duty on imports to 200 percent after a Pakistan-based militant outfit claimed an attack in Kashmir, that killed 40 paramilitary police on February 14. Pakistan has, however, denied the involvement.
