Officers responded to a 911 around 5 am Tuesday morning after a woman said she was being held at gunpoint against her will.
That’s when Houston SWAT officers responded to the scene and tried to deescalate the situation.
NTV was on the scene as the events unfolded. Our reporter said that a very loud boom was heard and then shortly after a woman was seen taken out of the home in a stretcher, including a 1-year-old child that was carried out of the home by an officer.
After all hostages were released, HPD officers briefed the media about what actually took place. They said that the man was holding 5 hostages against their will and would not let them leave the home.
One of those hostages was a 1-year-old child and the other was a disabled person.
The officer also told us that the hostages took control of the situation after the man put his gun down, they then seized the opportunity to “jump on him” and take him down to the ground.
That act allowed the SWAT team to enter the home and safely release all the of hostages.
About 75 police offices and paramedics responded to the scene, no one was hurt and the man was taken into custody.
