Koi feeding and rickshaw rides: G20 spouses get a taste of Japan’s culture

The spouses of G20 leaders enjoyed cultural programs in Osaka and the ancient city of Kyoto on Friday (June 28) on the sidelines of the ongoing summit.

Japanese First Lady Akie Abe greeted various spouses including France’s Brigitte Macron and South Korea’s Kim Jung-sook at Garden Oriental Osaka as the group gathered to feed Koi fish.

The spouses were also carried in rickshaws and had lunch at the scenic Tofukuji temple in the neighboring city of Kyoto.

The program occurred as leaders of the Group of 20 nations met to address various global issues, including concerns over economic uncertainties due to ongoing trade disputes between China and the United States.
