By: Paige Hubbard

Houston showed up and showed out last night at MTV’S music video awards, social media has even been calling it an “H-Town takeover”.

Megan Thee Stallion, Lizzo, and Normani hit the stage at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, bringing down south flavor to the east coast.

Normani, who was formally a part of the girl group Fifth Harmony, took home an award for best R&B for her song waves.

Lizzo was nominated for two categories. “Push artist” and best “new artist”. She hit the red carpet dawned in a red jeweled out gown.

“I’ve always felt successful because I’ve always done what I loved like I love music, I always toured and I always wrote songs,” said Lizzo.

“But to see the world smiling and to see the world signing my songs saying they will never ever ever be a side chick, talking about feeling good, that puts a smile on my face more than anything. I truly feel successful as a human and not just as a musician,” the South West Houston native said in a red carpet interview.

The Hot girl summer rapper Meghan the stallion wasn’t nominated for any categories but she still took home a moon man for best power anthem for a single on her latest album. It was her first VMA, she took to her IG to show her gratitude.

Congrats to all the ladies and may they continue to make H-Town proud.
