Passers-by rescue injured under toppled guardrail in south China city

In Liwan District, a road was enclosed by guardrail for construction. At about 16:00, a rainstorm blew down the guardrail onto five passersby. The local police station received the report and dispatched policemen to conduct rescue operation immediately.

“A grandma at the age of over 50 got off the bus No.414 with her two grandsons and a mother who looked like over 20-year-old hugged her two-month-old baby in arms walked towards Longwan Road after getting off bus were hit by the guardrail,” said Wang Tingfeng, a policeman of the Shiweitang police station.

The baby was in mother’s arms and didn’t suffer any injuries. The other four people could not get free from the guardrail and were hurt in the crash.

As the policemen were still on their way, the passengers on the nearby vehicles and shop owners of the stores on the roadside all came forward to lift theguardrail from the injured.

After about one minute’s efforts, the guardrail was successfully lifted up and four injured were rescued and sent to hospital.
