Basketball- NBA Commissioner Silver ‘considering’ launch of league in India

He made the comments in Mumbai ahead of India’s first-ever NBA games-two preseason games between Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers. Silver said he was in discussion with Indian-born owner of Sacramento Kings, Vivek Ranadive, about launching a league.

Ranadive said he talked to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about developing basketball arenas to help the sport prosper in India.

Cricket-mad India has been on the radar of the NBA. The association runs an academy near New Delhi, has arranged the visits of 35 current and former NBA and WNBA players since 2006 and opened an office in Mumbai in 2011.
