A city in southeastern Australia was blanketed by a dust storm on Thursday (November 21) as hot and dry winds fanned more than 60 bushfires in the state of Victoria.
Video obtained by Reuters showed the sky turning an eerie shade of orange in the city of Mildura, as winds of up to 110 kilometres (68 miles) per hour whipped up dust in the drought-stricken region.
Power to more than 100,000 homes were knocked out in Victoria after tree branches were blown into power lines. Authorities issued a code red warning for parts of the state, adding that should a fire start it would be fast moving, unpredictable and probably uncontrollable.
