Multiple dead in New Jersey shooting

Police and federal officers in Jersey City, New Jersey, swarmed a street on Tuesday (December 10), after at least one officer was shot.

Gunfire could be heard on local media broadcasts as police surrounded a store, and every school in the city was on lockdown, according to the local NBC affiliate.

“I have been briefed on the unfolding situation in Jersey City. Our thoughts and prayers are with the men and women of the Jersey City Police Department, especially with the officers shot during this standoff, and with the residents and schoolchildren currently under lockdown,” New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy tweeted during the incident.

It was not clear what led to the incident, but video on NBC showed dozens of SWAT, ATF and other officers and vehicles on scene, and reported there were two suspects involved in the shooting.
