One person dead after small plane crashes into Maryland house

One man was killed when the plane he was in crashed into the side of a house Sunday (December 29) in New Carrollton, Maryland, not far from Washington, D.C.

The eight passenger plane, a Grumman American AA-5, had just taken off from a small airport nearby when it crashed into the house’s carport, starting a fire that burned the plane and a nearby car, according to officials at the scene.

No one was in the house at the time of the crash and there was just one person on the plane who was declared dead at the scene, local police said in a statement.
