It’s that time of year again when the great city of Houston gathers together downtown to celebrate the life of the late Martin Luther King.
An estimate of 300,000 spectators is expected to be in attendance; including Houston’s own Mayor Sylvester Turner. Turner will join the Black Heritage Society for the second time in a row.
This year the parade will include 14 floats, 36 marching bands and over 200 performance groups.
To date, the Martin Luther King parade is one of the largest multicultural events around the world; bringing in an estimate of about 4 million viewers.
The theme this year is “Color of Unity” to symbolize the City of Houston for its great strength and diversity.
