President Donald Trump’s lawyers wrapped up their arguments in his impeachment trial on Tuesday (January 28) with a plea for the Senate to acquit him, and also sought to marginalize former national security adviser John Bolton’s explosive allegations about Trump’s conduct as “inadmissible” in the proceedings.
“You will do the only thing you can do, what you must do, what the Constitution compels you to do – reject these articles of impeachment. For our country and for the American people. It will show that you put the Constitution above partisanship. It will show that we can come together, on both sides of the aisle, and end the era of impeachment for good,” White House Counsel Pat Cipollone told the Senate.
He spoke on the third and final day of Trump’s legal team’s presentation to the Senate.
