An Air Canada Boeing 767 with 128 passengers on board made a safe emergency landing at Madrid’s Barajas airport on Monday (February 3) after reporting an engine issue and a burst tyre, an air traffic control source told Reuters.
Reuters footage showed the plane landing and fire engines rushing to the runway, but no signs of sparks or fire.
Air Canada said in a statement that one of the aircraft’s 10 tyres reportedly ruptured during takeoff from the airport.
Spanish airport operator AENA said earlier that the Air Canada plane had requested an emergency landing after reporting a “technical issue”.
