Massive house fire on Beltway 8

HOUSTON – A massive house fire broke out overnight at an abandoned home near North Beltway 8. Reports were made around 1:30 a.m. to the vacant home located at 1812 N Sam Houston Parkway West.

Firefighters from the Little York Fire Department were called out to assist the Houston Fire Department attack the two-story home completely covered in flames.

Fire officials described the home as kind of hidden within the woods so it took them longer to actually find the exact location of the home before arrival. The crews encountered multiple challenges, including a lack of water supply. They had to draft water from a pond close to the home since fire hydrates were unavailable.

Together they successfully extinguished the fire with no injuries reported. The house, however, is a total loss. An investigation will take place to see what started the fire.
