Men escape the vehicle before it goes underwater following crash

LA PORTE –  Two men are reported to be okay following a near-fatal car crash on Highway 225.

The pair and their Chevy sedan ended up completely submerged under the Plum Creek. They were forced to swim to safety Tuesday morning around 6:23 a.m. 

Police say they swerved to avoid a minor accident ahead of them but then managed to hit another vehicle that knocked them off the road into the creek.

No injuries were reported. HPD Dive Team was on the scene to retrieve the vehicle
