One fatality following a head-on collision

FORT BEND COUNTY- One has been declared dead following a wrong-way driver crash.

The crash happened on SH 99 and West Bellfort. Fort Bend County deputies say they made multiple attempts to try to stop the driver before the deadly crash this morning.

According to police, they were initially on their way to transport someone else to the hospital when they noticed a black car speeding on the wrong side of the highway.

The first attempt was to cut them off and set up spikes near Mason and SH 99 but the driver surpassed them.

As they attempted to set up spikes at another exit the black car crashed head-on with a white sedan. The driver of the white car died at the scene. The driver of the black car was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Fort Bend officials believe intoxication is the cause, tests are expected to be done on the driver’s blood.
