UK school practises handshake with feet as coronavirus spreads

UK school pupils practised a foot-to-foot ‘handshake’ on Wednesday (March 4) that has been adopted around the world as a way stop spreading the coronavirus.

Children at St Christopher’s School in the English city of Hove were filmed in the playground practising what is becoming known on social media as the “Wuhan shake.”

We are exploring ways in which we can greet our friends, teachers, and other adults without shaking hands and risking the spread of the virus,” St Christopher’s Director of Marketing & Communications, Chris Holt, told Reuters.

It comes as the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Britain leaped from 51 to 85 on Wednesday in the biggest daily jump since it was first detected in the country.
