21-year-old struck by a car as he helped a relative stuck in floodwaters.

HOUSTON, TX – A 21-year-old was hit by a car Monday night as he attempted to help a stranded family member stuck in high floodwaters.

The accident happened near Hiram Clarke Road off Highway 90, just before Tropical Storm Beta made landfall.

According to the victim’s father, his son was helping a cousin who was stuck in the mud at the time, that’s when someone collided with his son’s truck and fled the scene. No further information was provided on the condition of the man.

The cousin says the driver of the other vehicle abandoned his car at the scene and removed his license plates. Deputies are still in search of the driver.
