Murder charges filed against suspect in fatal crash that killed rideshare passengers

HOUSTON, TX – Murder charges have been filed against a man after fleeing from deputies and causing a fatal crash over the weekend in northeast Houston.

Police say 45-year-old Brian Tatum was driving a white Acura RDX at extreme speeds near Jensen Road, eventually running a red light. Harris County Sheriff’s deputies say they attempted to pull over Tatum but he refused to stop.

During pursuit, Tatum tried to flee onto Parker Road when he crashed into another vehicle being used as a rideshare service. The impact split the vehicle into two pieces, killing the two passengers in the backseat.

Tatum and another person, who was a passenger in his vehicle, suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The driver of the rideshare car sustained minor injuries.

Details regarding the rideshare company the driver worked for were not released. The victims were two women, their identities have not been released.
