Top sports stars who have tested positive for COVID

Cristiano Ronaldo is just one of a host of high profile sports star who have tested positive for COVID-19.

With elite athletes tested far more than ordinary members of the public and often travelling between countries with high instances of the virus, it’s probably no surprise that some of them have returned positive results.

Soccer players Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Angel di Maria and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have all recovered from coronavirus, while tennis star Novak Djokovic caused controversy after he was found to be COVID-19 positive following a tennis tournament in June.

This week, as well as Ronaldo having to self isolate, world number one golfer Dustin Johnson also announced he had COVID-19, while cycling’s Giro d’Italia has been thrown into disarray after two teams – Mitchelton-Scott and Jumbo-Visma – pulled out of the event.
