Accidental shooting leaves man dead in Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY – Deputies are investigating a fatal shooting incident in Northwest Harris County. 

The shooting happened at a home near Laurel Creek Drive and Laurel Arbor Drive just before 11:30 p.m. 

According to police, a man was shot and killed while relaxing in bed. Norez Hargrove was identified as the accidental shooter and family friend of the victim.

Investigators said the friend, who’s been staying with the victim, was examining a gun in the living room when it went off. 

The bullet pierced through the wall striking 48-year-old Gerald Peavy.

Deputies said Peavy’s wife was in the room with him when it happened. They both were taken in for further questioning.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office said manslaughter charges are pending against Hargrove.
