SAN FRANCISCO – Groundbreaking and award-winning actress Cicely Tyson has died.
Tyson’s career spanned over several decades, where she was known for breaking barriers as one of the first black actresses on television, film, and stage.
She will likely be best remembered for the 1974 t-v mini-series “The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman.”
Her family has not yet reveal the cause of death.
Tyson was 96 years old.
