Spire nightclub shut down after crowded concert violates COVID guidelines

HOUSTON – A popular Houston nightclub was forced to close after video footage showed an excessively crowded venue over the weekend.

HPD was called to Spire Nightclub near downtown Houston due to large crowd numbers. Police say when they arrived at least 200 people were waiting in line to go inside the already packed out venue.

Both the fire marshall and fire department were called in to immediately shut down the club due to COVID-19 safety violations.

No further details have been released on the future standings of Spire Nightclub.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner since then tweeted out his response to the incident.
