Charges Upgraded Against Suspect in Fatal Stabbing at 10950 Beaumont Hwy

HOUSTON – Charges have been upgraded against a suspect arrested in the stabbing of a man at 10950 Beaumont Highway on February 10.

Houston police reported the suspect, David Luke Davis, 69 who also goes by Gilbert Nelson III, was initially charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. 

Upon further investigation, charges were upgraded to murder after it was discovered Davis, a former resident of the halfway house facility, had stabbed Cody McCurley, 29, in the neck area while in a common shower room.

Houston Fire Department paramedics transported McCurley to a local hospital where he later died six days later from his injuries.

Davis was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged for his role in the incident.
