President Biden to visit Texas to assess winter storm damage

HOUSTON – The Bidens plan to visit Houston today to review the recovery from winter storms.

This appearance will mark President Biden’s first official natural disaster visit since his inauguration. Just last week more than seven million Texans faced water disruptions power outages.

Joe and Jill Biden plan to meet with local leaders about relief efforts.

During his visitation, the president is expected to visit the Houston Food Bank and the newest mass COVID-19 vaccine center stationed at NRG Park.

Traffic around the city will be impacted as the president and other dignitaries are escorted from point to point. Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo sent out a warning that there would be impacts on some roads.

12 p.m.: The couple arrives in Houston
12:50 p.m.: The first lady visits the Houston Food Bank
12:55 p.m.: Biden tours Harris County Emergency Operations Center
2:20 p.m.: President joins the first lady to tour Houston Food Bank and meet volunteers
5 p.m.: Biden delivers remarks at the FEMA COVID-19 vaccination facility at NRG Stadium
6 p.m.: The couple departs from Houston en route to Washington, D.C.
