A suspect alleged of killing HPD sergeant bonds out of jail

HOUSTON – A man accused of murdering HPD Sgt. Sean Rios during a shootout along the North Freeway back in November has been released from jail after posting bond.

Robert Soliz, 24, was arrested approximately 24 hours after the shooting death of Sgt. Rios in November 2020. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop on the Katy Freeway.

Soliz was charged with murder and has a history of arrests dating back to 2014 that range from being found with drugs in his possession, evading arrest, and criminal trespassing. In addition to a 2017 incident where he was accused of threatening to kill his then-girlfriend.

Soliz is set to appear back in court on Tuesday, March 23.
