At least 15 people were killed on Tuesday (March 2) in a multiple vehicle crash in Southern California, about 10 miles north of the Mexican border, according to a hospital official.
The crash occurred when an SUV struck a semi-truck on State Route 115 in Imperial County, California, said Judy Cruz, the Director of El Centro Regional Medical Center’s emergency department.
An Imperial County Fire Department official told the Los Angeles Times that the agency responded to a mass fatality incident involving a semitruck and an SUV at 6:16 a.m. local time.
Twenty-seven people were believed to be in the SUV, according to Cruz. Fourteen were dead on the scene and one died later in the hospital.
