Former bank clerk accused of stealing nude photos from customers phones

HOUSTON – A former Bank of American employee in Houston tricked two women into giving him their phones so he could steal their nude photos.

Juan Esteban Ramirez took one customer’s phone on September 2020 when she went to the bank to get a new debit card.

“She was unsure how to look up her Bank of America account information. The defendant asked her to use her phone to look up her bank account number. The victim unlocked her cellphone and handed the cellphone to the defendant,” according to court documents obtained by KPRC.

Ramirez allegedly went through the woman’s photo app and texted himself 16 photos where the woman was nude or in her underwear. He then deleted the texts.

The woman found out when she received sent notifications on her Apple Watch, KTRK reported.

A second woman said Ramirez did the same thing to her when she went to the bank later that week. Ramirez is also accused of threatening her.

“In this case, he actually texts that victim from his personal cell phone and threatens her and says he has those pictures from her cell phone. She felt threatened by the way he was speaking to her and felt as though he expected something from her in exchange for the privacy of those texts,” said Harris County Assistant District Attorney Keaton Forcht.

Ramirez is now facing two charges of unlawful disclosure of intimate visual material, but authorities believe he may have victimized more women.

Bank of America said it fired Ramirez and is now working with Houston police.
