Suspect charged in a fatal shooting on Lyons Ave.

HOUSTON – Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in connection to a fatal shooting of one man and wounding of another man earlier last month.

The incident took place in the at 7500 block of Lyons Avenue about 12:10 a.m. on March 13.

The suspect, Shawn Paul Rodriguez, 32 was charged with murder in after he is suspected to be resposible for the death of Cruz Antonio Perez, 30.  

A second victim, Jose Juan Perez, 37, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.

A preliminary investigation indicated that two men began arguing outside the bar at the above address. The argument turned physical resulting in a shooting. 

Paramedics pronounced one victim, later identified as Cruz Antonio Perez, deceased and transported the other victim, Jose Juan Perez, to a hospital.

Rodriguez was taken into custody on Wednesday (March 31) without incident.
