David Beckham to invest in UK-based electric vehicle company

British soccer star David Beckham has invested in a UK based electric vehicle company, its CEO announced.

David Lorenz, who founded Lunaz, said that Beckham’s support would help the company enter international markets.

Lunaz converts petrol and diesel-powered cars and trucks into electric vehicles.

“You do not just have to build new vehicles, you can take what already exists, re-engineer it and put it back to as a factory-new vehicle, with all the modern technology and engineer that vehicle for a future,” said Lorenz.

Britain will ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030 as part of its goal of cutting emissions to net zero by 2050.

In April, data from Britain’s Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders showed battery EVs and plug-in hybrid vehicles’ market share grew to 13.9% over January-March.
