HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating the killing of a man who was allegedly shot by a homeowner in southeast Houston Tuesday.
According to police, the incident was reported at 6023 Glenhurst Drive.
Officers told the homeowner is a 72-year-old man who uses a wheelchair and the man he shot was his former tenant.
Investigators said the homeowner had warned the victim of eviction in case of non-payment of rent. He then locked the door on the younger male.
After a while, the younger male came back and kicked the door in. The homeowner shot him
after some sort of altercation between the two.
“Evidently our deceased individual kicked the door in, got inside. They had some kind of altercation. The older man shot the younger one, the homeowner shot the guy who was kicking in the door, and homicide is there trying to figure out what exactly occurred,” Officer R. Willkens with the Houston Police Department said.
Detectives said the homeowner is cooperating with the authorities. No charges have been filed yet.
