Man taken into custody after calling false hostage situation

HOUSTON – Houston police have detained a man for reporting a false hostage situation at South Gessner Road. 

The caller reported he was holding two officers hostage and had a gun.

Officers made contact with the family and gained information about the suspect.

SWAT entered the house through the garage where the man was found and taken into custody.

Reportedly, the district attorney accepted charges for making false reports.

Police said the caller had made similar calls in the past as well. He will be transported to JPC where he will receive mental care.
