Man with knife taken into custody after standoff

HOUSTON – A man, believed to be a veteran, has been taken into custody after a standoff in the 5959 block of Guhn Road. 

After receiving reports of a disturbance, HPD units arrived at the location and found a man on a roof with a phone and a knife in his hand.

A Crisis Intervention Response Team (CIRT) responded to the scene, attempting to speak with the male to give himself up. After sometime it was determined he was not going to come down on his own.

SWAT team and hostage negotiators also arrived at the scene. SWAT team climbed up to the roof and took the male into custody.

Later, he was transported by ambulance to the hospital for evaluation.

At this time, there are no charges against the male.
