HOUSTON – A female driver and child were killed Sunday morning after a wrong-way crash on the Eastex Freeway.
Accord to police, the crash was reported at around 3 a.m. near the North Loop.
Officers reportedly saw the vehicle going the wrong way, but before they could stop it, the driver crashed head-on into another vehicle.
A family of five was struck head-on by the wrong way driver, causing the vehicle to catch fire.
The female driver was killed on the scene, whereas, people in the other vehicle were transported to a nearby trauma center where the youngest child was declared deceased.
Following the incident, all northbound traffic was diverted to 610. The roadway was reopened for traffic after several hours.
The incident is being investigated.
