One person shot dead after multi-vehicle crash on I-45

HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating after a man was shot and killed following a four-vehicle crash on I-45 North. 

The incident was reported on the northbound lanes just north of Gulf Bank.  At least four vehicles were reported to be involved in the crash.

When HPD officers arrived at the scene, they located a deceased male with an obvious gunshot wound to the head.

A firearm was also located on the freeway, but it could not be confirmed if it was used in the shooting.

As per preliminary information, the male was located on the bank between the freeway and the service road, and detectives are working to determine if the shooters were involved in the crash, or came up from the feeder road.

During the investigation, northbound lanes of I-45 were closed for approximately two miles 

until about 6:15 a.m. and has now fully reopened.

Police are asking anyone with info to come forward to help piece together the case.
