Toddler among 3 killed in horrific crash on Westpark Tollway

HOUSTON – Three people, including a toddler have died, after two vehicles collided on the Westpark Tollway early Friday morning.

Authorities believe a man was traveling in the wrong direction on the tollway when he struck a woman’s SUV from the front.

Reportedly, one of the vehicles immediately caught fire and had a female driver that was trapped inside.  The other vehicle, the man was driving, had a child who was restraint in a car seat. The car seat with the child was ejected from that vehicle.

Eventually, the second vehicle also caught fire. Both drivers were confirmed deceased at the scene.

The child was transported to the hospital via Life Flight in critical condition, however, he could not survive.

“This is a pretty horrific crash,” Sgt. Danny Beckworth with Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said. “The family shouldn’t have to go through this.”

The cause of the crash is being investigated by the FBCSO.
