Driver in custody police chase near Houston

HOUSOTN – A driver has been detained after a police pursuit along the Eastex Freeway late Thursday.

According to Harris County Pct. 4 Deputy Constables, the case initiated after a driver in the Toyota Prius refused to stop. 

Authorities said a woman and at least one child were present inside the vehicle during the pursuit.

Meanwhile, the deputies deployed spike strips which hit the left side tires.

After losing a wheel, the driver came to a stop a short time later on the southbound Eastex Freeway.

The driver was detained without incident.

No injuries were reported.
