HOUSTON – A 20-year-old man was charged with intoxication manslaughter after a woman was struck and killed on Houston’s I-45 North Wednesday night.
According to police, the crash happened between Greens Road and Beltway 8 at 10:58 p.m.
Investigators told that a Toyota 4 Runner broke down between moving lanes of traffic on the inbound 45 Freeway.
The female driver of the Toyota 4 Runner was outside of the vehicle when a Chevrolet truck crashed into her.
According to witnesses, the 20-year-old driver of the Chevrolet truck appeared to be intoxicated.
He was taken to the hospital by ambulance and later a search warrant was requested in order to obtain the driver’s a blood sample.
Officers also conducted field sobriety test on the male at the hospital. The D.A. accepted charges of intoxicated man slaughter on behalf of the deceased female.
The incident is under investigation.
