Security guard shot, injured after confrontation in northwest Houston

HOUSTON – A security guard was shot and injured during a confrontation in laundry room of an apartment complex in northwest Houston early Thursday.

The shooting happened in the 7500 block of Pinemont before 3 a.m.

Police said a resident got upset after he was asked to leave by the security guard as he was using the laundry room after hours.

The suspect went to his apartment, grabbed a gun and returned to the laundry room, firing one round into the air. 

At that point a second security guard arrived and the two guards chased the suspect. The suspect ran around a corner, waited for the security guards and then fired two rounds, striking one security guard in the abdomen. 

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive. The other guard was not hurt.

Police said the suspect has been taken into custody.
